Bad Lippspringe is located in a sheltered spot at the western edge of the Egge Mountains. Its medicinal climate and mineral-water springs have made it a popular destination for many visitors and Spa patients from near and far. The town is the only Spa in the whole of North-Rhine-Westphalia that has been designated as a “Premium Class” state-recognised medicinal Spa and medicinal-climate Spa.
The Castle ruins there are deemed to be Bad Lippspringe’s oldest landmark; and the source of the River Lippe, which gave the town its name, is situated right underneath them. Ancient documents reveal that a long time ago, Emperor Charlemagne convened the meetings of his counsellors here. Its healing mineral springs as well as the excellent climate have been what has made this town a Spa and it is able to look back proudly on a tradition of 175 years as such. Before that, legend has it that a sheep suffering from severe cold drank the water from the Arminius Spring, in the centre of the town, and rapidly recovered!
Bad Lippspringe pleases visitors with charming flower arrangements throughout the whole town. Its Spa parks and vast Spa forest provide ample opportunities to take long walks and bicycle tours in and around the town. 2017 will be a very special year for Bad Lippspringe; as, much to everybody’s delight, the Spa has been appointed as the host of the 2017 North-Rhine-Westphalia Country Garden Show.
Medical diagnostics and therapies of the highest standard are provided in its Spa facilities. Six clinics, three medicinal springs, three different Spa parks, two thermal baths and a salt grotto offer a wide range of health-improving treatments.
Are you are in search of relaxation and “wellness”? Then Bad Lippspringe is the right place. Here, you will find massages, Spa treatments and saunas in the local thermal spring swimming baths, or perhaps you would enjoy a game of Chess or Boule? Besides these the “Planet-Route”, a 27-hole Golf Course and many other sports and leisure facilities are located right at this gate to the magnificent landscape of the Teutoburger Forest.
Bad Lippspringe provides entertainment throughout the year; the annual Park Festival is held in the spring, and around Whitsun the splendid Park Illuminations attract many visitors to the romantic Kaiser-Karl-Park in mid-August and in October. In addition, the rustic Bad Lippspringe fun-fair is a popular event for young and old, and there is also a wide range of other events; from tea-dances and musical events right through to comedy and cabaret shows to entertain citizens and visitors all year round.
The many restaurants, cafes, pubs and hotels complete the variety on offer and ensure that visitors can forget the hustle and bustle of every day life and relax and experience “healthy living” at first hand.
